# Revoke a room's invite links

> Kill this room's invite links immediately — the answer to a leaked one.

Takes effect at once and permanently: the links are removed rather than marked, so
they stop working the moment this returns and cannot be reinstated. Anyone already in
the room stays in — this revokes the *links*, not the connections they granted. Use
`DELETE /v1/rooms/{room_id}` to end the call itself.

**It retires every link for the room, not one of them.** A code is shown once and only
a hash is kept, so naming a single link would mean still holding the code you were
trying to invalidate — which is exactly what you do not have when a link has gone
astray. Mint a fresh link for anyone who should still be able to join; that is cheaper
than the alternative, which was having no way back at all.

Always 204, including for a room with no links, a room that has ended, and a room in
another organization — so a retry is safe and nothing here confirms whether a room or
a link ever existed.
